So, I ordered all of the major components, 2.5 crank (95mm vs. 93), got a new block, mainly because there was only one left in the U.S., upper and lower gasket sets, all of the timing components (middle of the pic.), oil pump, water pump, every hose under the hood, every sensor under the hood, 50/50 header, air flow meter, injectors, and about 60 other odds and ends...I refuse to look at a receipt, i’m just stuffing them in a folder.

best idea!

only do a total once engine complete and installed , then you can pass out in shock.

Truth! After I’m done I can write a “car buying” article, “ Why rebuild an s14 when you can buy a new kia for the same price!”

Laid out like that it makes it look so simple. Looks like a big Lego kit that you could put together in under an hour.

Now, no engine blocks left in the US. Last one is in my garage.

Yep. I should probably put a new head gasket in the m52, but it is way too complicated

Pete can you elaborate on this a bit? Where did you get the block? Was there only 1 NOS (new old stock) S14 engine block in the US? etc...

Pretty much, I work at a bmw dealership so I can locate and see what warehouse has the parts I need, the Nazareth warehouse had the last block in the US, so I got it. Now it’ll either go nla, or go on back order indefinately.

I feel the pain! I’ve just started a rebuild on a 4G63T, I’ve got all the parts but I’m usually just staring at them and trying to figure out what goes where. Worse though, is when I put it together and then find out some little adjustment has to be made, and requires me to take some of the parts back off. Like the timing. Yay.

you’re at the part where I cut a check.

It would be considerably less painful, if only I had the funding!
